Crane Operator Classes Ontario - For the supervisors and the operators, new and current, the crane operator training course is suitable for all. Course content includes applicable federal, provincial and state safety regulations. The training's first part includes comprehensive in-class instruction and examination. Following that is a hands-on customized session along with practical instruction and evaluation.
The content of the course applies to all categories and types of overhead lifting crane devices. The instruction would particularly focus on all aspects of crane operation that could be carried out at the trainee's workplace. Upon finishing the course, people training would learn how to operate particular overhead lifting machines, attachments and related parts safely and efficiently.
The operator course's goal is to first identify and potentially dangerous operator habits that can develop while a person operates an overhead crane. Costly damage to products and equipment can be prevented with right practices. Training reduces the chance of a workplace incident or injury taking place.
The course will encompass approximately eight hours of classroom instruction with a couple of hours of customized, on-site, hands-on training. Participants are graded on their understanding of training material via an assessment of their practical knowledge and written tests. The minimum acceptable score is 80 percent.
During the in-class session, participants would learn applicable legislation and guidelines, causes of damages and occurrences, internal responsibility, hazard awareness, basic equipment and design principles, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, pre-shift equipment inspections, safe hoisting/operating techniques, equipment applications/rigging, kinds of hardware, pedestrian/operator safety, hitches and angles, hand signals for slingers and operators, turning/flipping loads safely.
The customized practical training and evaluation session must be pre-scheduled. It will be held at the trainees' facility after completion of the in-class session. The duration of this practical training component is an hour or two. Two operators at a time will be trained by the instructor about skills like right rigging practices, safe operation and planning the lift.
Upon completing the practical operating instruction and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee will write an exam. Signed safety rules will be needed from every participant. Successful trainees would be provided with individual wallet certificates. A framed wall certificate would be provided to the company.
